Obituary of Frank E. Wilcher

Frank Wilcher of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina passed away on February 18, 2018 after a brief illness. He was born in Moline, IL on August 13, 1928, and grew up in Racine, WI. Frank entered the US Army in 1946 and served 18 months with the Occupation Forces in Tokyo, Japan. In 1952 he graduated from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and married his first wife, Betsy Kling, who died in 1967. Following his graduation from Penn he joined the Pennsylvania Salt Mfg. Co. and in 1958 became a Trade Association Executive with a Philadelphia firm that managed a group of Trade Associations from different industries. In 1969 he married Edna Cornett. In 1974 he joined the International Safety Equipment Association where he served as President until 1993. The Wilchers then retired to Hilton Head Island where Frank has volunteered with Hilton Head Hospital, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, Friends with Wheels, Volunteers in Medicine, Treat the Troops, and Hilton Head Island Land Trust. Additionally, he has served as the President and on a number of committees of the Hilton Head Plantation POA. Survivors include his wife Edna, daughter Susan Henderson (Tim), son Richard (Doris), son Tom (Barbara), nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at the Country Club of Hilton Head from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018.
