Obituary of Randall Grossman

Randall Theodore Grossman, 62, Bluffton, SC Born September 15, 1955 in Los Angeles, CA. Passed away suddenly January 21, 2018 in Hilton Head, SC. Graveside funeral service with military honors will be held at Beaufort National Cemetery on Friday January 26, 2018 at 10:00 am. Randy was in the Navy ROTC in high school and received a full scholarship to college, after which he served as a Naval Officer for over eleven years, completing his service at the rank of Lieutenant. After leaving the Navy, he continued his service to our country as a dedicated civil servant working for SPAWARSYSCEN Charleston until his retirement. He received a BS in History/Soviet Area Studies from the University of Missouri and later earned his MBA from Mount Saint Mary’s University. Randy was a lifelong history enthusiast whose interests included the Middle East, biblical eras, the Civil War, and the World Wars among many other topics. He was an avid dog lover who spent many hours volunteering at the local animal shelter and ensconced at home spoiling as many animals as he could – usually while watching Fox news. He was very proud of his Jewish heritage and enjoyed sharing the history of the religion with his family, friends and students, most notably in his role teaching comparative religion classes at the Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim (KKBE) Synagogue in Charleston. He is survived by his Wife – Sylvia; Children – Michael, Melissa, Justin and Jason; Brother – Gary; Grandchildren and many more beloved family and friends. Randy was a very kind, caring person who loved spending time with his family and friends. He was greatly loved, and he will be sorely missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rogue Rescue & Animal Sanctuary or the Wounded Warriors Project.
