Obituary of Mark David Byers

Mark David Byers, 67, of Ridgeland, SC, died Sept. 19, 2018 at Ridgeland Nursing Center. A service was held Sept. 27th at The Island Funeral Home and Crematory on Hilton Head Island in SC. Mark was born February 8, 1951 in Columbus, OH to the late Harley and Dorothy Tomlinson Byers. Mark worked 50 years at ARC Industries North in Columbus, OH. In 2012 he and his dad moved to Cincinnati, OH where he participated in The Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries program. In 2013 after moving to Bluffton, SC. he enrolled in the day program at Beaufort County Disabilities and Special Needs, and retired in June, 2017. Mark’s passions were attending The Ohio State Fair, watching Ohio State football games with his family, playing UNO cards and listening to music from his vast collection of CDs. His family will remember Mark’s gentle nature, blue eyes and heavenly smile. Mark is preceded in death by his brother, Roger Sterling Byers. He is survived by his loving sister, Mary Byers Moorhead (Gary); nieces, Melanie Moorhead Staudt (Ryan), Summer Byers (Spencer Porteous); nephew, Sam Byers; grandnieces, Ava and Lily Staudt, Emily and Sara Ottesen; aunt, Pat Duis, and many cousins.
