Annette Martin died on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 on Hilton Head Island. She was born July 28, 1929 in Toronto, Canada. Her husband, Donald, predeceased her, after 52 happy years of marriage. Their life together took them from Toronto, to Sao Paulo, Brazil; Chicago; Lucerne, Switzerland; Greenwich, CT; Philadelphia, and finally to Hilton Head Island in 1984. Annette moved to The Seabrook in 2012, where she served on the Board of Trustees and headed the Marketing Committee. She is survived by her beloved son Paul, his wife Jan, and granddaughter Sherri as well as a daughter, Cheryl Johannson, and her three children, Diana, Dane, and Chris. Over the years, she served as a deacon and elder in several churches, volunteered with the Infant Welfare Society in Chicago, led two Alzheimer’s support groups, volunteered at Memory Matters, and The Fraser Health Center. She was active in the Artist’s Association of Hilton Head Plantation. In addition, Annette was a member of the Greater Island Committee and their Transportation Committee. Her working years were all in healthcare, as a Director of Nursing, President of Martin Drug, and finally 15 years at the Seabrook, where she became Executive Director. The family enjoyed travel, sailing and horseback riding together. She was an avid reader, member of The Seabrook Book Club, and enjoyed painting and entertaining friends.
