Nancy Luzak

Obituary of Nancy Rahel Luzak

Nancy Rahel Luzak died May 3, 2018 at her home on Hilton Head Island, as she hoped. She was born November 11, 1945 in Washington, DC. She grew up in Rosemont, PA, graduated from Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio and got her master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Family and friends always came first with Nancy. She surrounded herself with pictures of all she held dear, many showing her wonderful skills as a photographer. Nancy approached her life with vitality, intellectual curiosity and compassion. She loved to be challenged and was never afraid to go outside her comfort zone. She learned how to sail and navigate by the stars when she lived in Greenwich, CT. When she picked up golf, so she could play with her late husband Dennis Luzak, she turned into a great golfer who was also very involved in the Low Country Women’s Golf Association. Everyone Nancy worked for benefited from her dedication, organizational skills and loyalty as a friend. She was a true professional but would take her dog Carl to work with her. Nancy was as comfortable sliding into home plate when she played softball as she was wearing a beautiful gown to a formal occasion. She was an animal lover from an early age, when she would bring home any stray she found. There are many feral cats in Sea Pines who have Nancy to thank for a better life because she fed them and helped to get them spayed and neutered. Nancy lived her life with grace and dignity and will be missed by her family and all those she considered her extended family. They will hold in their hearts a memory of her as a beautiful, vital, loving woman. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The Hilton Head Humane Association is suggested as the most appropriate recipient of contributions in Nancy’s name. Arrangements by The Island Funeral Home and Crematory. islandfuneralhome.com.
