Obituary of Karl Evans Meyer
On February 8, 2019, Karl Meyer, husband of Roselind Meyer, was welcomed home by his Heavenly Father and by his son Thomas and daughter Corrie who had preceded him there.
Karl was born on January 20, 1937 to Karl and Martha Meyer of Hastings, Minnesota. He graduated from Grant High School in Portland, Oregon and from Oregon State University in 1959. He retired from IBM after 32 years as a financial analyst, moved to Atlanta and joined the NGO Care, a global humanitarian organization, and later worked at Rapha Ministries.
Karl loved his Lord and Savior. He loved his family, people, and ministering and caring for them. He also loved golf and his golfing buddies. Life was never about himself, but others. He enjoyed team work and served as a Stephen’s Minister. He spent 18 years in Community Bible leadership on Hilton Head. He led the Mourner’s Path at St. Luke’s, served as a Lay Eucharistic Minister, and shared Christ’s love through Kairos at Allendale prison.
We are so thankful for all the loving care, attention, and help Karl received at Bloom at Belfair and with Hospice Care of the Lowcountry this past year. Thank you to Arlene, Showana, Gwen, Tracy, Betty, Diane, Leslie, Stephanie and all others who ministered to him at Bloom and at home. Thank you to the sweet people from Right at Home, especially Mary, who served and cared for Karl at home, and was a blessing to his wife beyond what was expected.
The love, support and prayers of neighbors and friends from St. Luke’s are deeply appreciated. Karl will be remembered by his many friends as the kind, loving, sharing person that he was.
Services will be held at St. Luke’s Church on Saturday, February 23 at 2.30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s.
