Obituary of Gloria Jean Warney

Gloria “Jean" Warney died in her home on November 10, 2020 on Hilton Head Island, SC. She was 69.

Jean was born on August 17, 1951 in Savanna, GA to her parents, Donald and Virginia Whalley. She graduated high school in 1968. She married Alan Warney in 2002. Jean worked as the Executive Secretary for Palmetto Electric Coop and retired in 2006. She spent the rest of her time as a wife and a mother to her daughter.

Jean was a member of the board for the YANA Club of Hilton Head, coordinating and working the club’s special events for a number of years. She was an active member of North Island Baptist Church performing the same duties.

Jean is survived by her husband, Alan Warney; her daughter Susan “Jennie" Darden; her brothers Billy and Jimmy Whalley; her sister-in-law, Tammy Whalley; two stepsons Jason and James Warney; and several grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sisters Patty and Sharon; and her brother Kenny.

Jean will be cremated by Island Funeral Home and Crematory and a memorial service will take place on November 21, 2020 from 2 to 4 pm at the YANA Club 107 Matthew’s Drive Hilton Head Island SC The pastor of her church, Dr Charles Kessler, will perform a brief service starting a 2:30 pm.
