Genevieve Brosman

Obituary of Genevieve Brosman

Genevieve Moskowitz Brosman, known as Jeani, died Sunday, January 31, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.  Her love, endurance and strength led her through years of serious illness.  Jeani was born in Bridgeport, CT in 1935. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Sadie Moskowitz.
She was married for many years to the late Walter Brosman, and together they decided to make their way to the Lowcountry - living first on Hilton Head and then moving to Moss Creek. The Brosman’s were drawn to the beauty of the area and by their desire to play lots of golf together.  Eventually, they felt the need for more, and for many years they owned and operated Land’s End Tavern in South Beach.
However, family was the real center of Jeani’s life. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and she loved being with her family - cooking for them, singing and telling jokes.
Her zest for life was evident to all - and she enjoyed playing Keno when she could.
She is survived by her companion of over 20 years, Edward (Ted) Wootton, a wonderful grandfather and great grandfather, and  by her loving children, Debra Hood (Jack), Dr. David Brosman (Dana), Susan Brosman of NJ, Rebecca Halley, and step-son Michael Brosman (Colleen) of PA, and by 11 adoring grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.  Jeani is also survived by her devoted brother, Jerry Moskowitz of CA, who sent her birthday cards every month.  Jeani is preceded in death by her sisters, Irene Moskowitz and Rose Breiner.
A private memorial service will be held Thursday, Feb 4, 2021 with Rabbi Brad Bloom presiding.
If desired, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, PO Box 3827, Bluffton, SC 29910.
