Obituary of Pauline Jenkins

Pauline Broas Jenkins of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, formerly of Chatham, NJ passed away Monday, April 12, 2021, at the Preston Health Center. Pauline was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother. She was deeply loved by her family. Pauline Jenkins was born in Jersey City, NJ to William and Pauline Broas on May 30, 1933. She grew up in Verona and Montclair, NJ, and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair, NJ. She married Thomas Deane Jenkins, Jr in 1955, and together they raised their family in Chatham, NJ. Pauline attended the University of Mary Washington and received her BA and MA from Kean University. She created and operated New Directions in Education, a study skills business in Chatham, NJ during the 1970s and 1980s. She and her husband Tom relocated to Hilton Head Island, SC in the early 1990s. There she worked at and was eventually a member of, The Cyprus of Hilton Head Island. Pauline was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Thomas D. Jenkins, her two brothers William Broas and Robert Broas, and her sister Mary Broas LeComte. She is survived by her four children, Pamela Jenkins of Montclair, NJ, Thomas D. Jenkins, III of Blufton, SC, Robert Jenkins of Petersburg, VA, and Christopher Jenkins of Savannah, GA as well as three loving daughters-inlaw, Catherine Jenkins, Cynthia Jenkins, and Zöe Jenkins and eight grandchildren, Brad and Emerson Perna, Thomas D Jenkins, IV, Zachary and Liam Jenkins, Christopher Jr, Sophia, and Theo Jenkins. A private ceremony for the family will be held at St. Francis Church on Hilton Head Island. In lieu of flowers, the Jenkins family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association (heart.org).
