Obituary of Pat Orr
Patricia Ann Shaw Orr, age 90, passed away peacefully but unexpectedly on Saturday, August 14th at her home at The Seabrook of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
She is survived by her three daughters: Rebecca Orr, Elizabeth Orr and Susan Orr Brown, all of Charlotte, North Carolina along with her one granddaughter, Anna Elizabeth Berger, also of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Troy J. Shaw and Edyth Rae Shaw; her three brothers Jack Shaw, Robert Shaw and Ronald Shaw. She was also preceded in death by her Aunt and Uncle; Howard and Flo Holtzclaw, who had a very special place in her heart as well.
Pat was born in her grandmother Roby's home in the very small town of Cowen, WV in October 1930. She lived her life in basically two places: in the Monongahela Valley in Bridgeport, West Virginia, where she raised her three daughters with her former husband until they divorced in January of 1981. In 1981, she bravely moved to the Lowcountry of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina permanently to restart her life. She worked most of her career as a medical administrative practice manager and then she started her own service business at retirement age to assist others with financial matters. Pat adored working, serving and assisting her clients. She was an avid sports fan; she loved her West Virginia Mountaineers, PGA golf, tennis, etc.-she was always up to watching sports. She loved people; she adored cooking and entertaining throughout her life. There was never a time that she took pause being active in her church. She taught a love of music and dancing to her girls. She was an active member of First Baptist Church where she joyfully, and with a purpose in worship, sang in the choir for over 35 years.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 11:00A.M. at First Baptist Church, 100 South Forest Beach Drive, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and will also be streamed live from the Church's website of www.fbchhi.org. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to "First Baptist Church Choir Fund" in Pat's memory.
