Obituary of Peter V. Caruso, MD
Peter V. Caruso, MD passed away on March 3, 2022. He was 79.
Peter was born in Clarksburg, WV to Mary and Thomas Caruso. He graduated from West Virginia University undergraduate and Medical School. In 1973, Peter married the love of his life, Mary Frances DeBerry. He was a radiologist in Wheeling, WV for most of his career. He loved the beach on Hilton Head Island and moved there in 2000.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and uncle. His generosity and kindness were noted by all who met him. He truly endeavored to practice medicine as an extension of his Catholic faith. In his later years, he enjoyed traveling around the East Coast reading X-rays. Above all he loved his family and spending time with them.
Peter is survived by his wife, Mary Frances and children Christina Mott, son-in-law William Mott, their children Peter and David Mott of Chatham, NJ; Thomas Caruso and his son Peter of Columbus, OH; Vincent Caruso of Pittsburgh, PA; and Victoria Caruso of Bluffton, SC; his brother Fred Caruso and sister-in-law Anne; his sister Angela Romano; and sisters-in-law Mary Ann Caruso and Lenora Caruso; his brothers-in-law David DeBerry and Stephen DeBerry and many nephews, nieces and their families. He is predeceased by his parents Thomas and Mary Caruso; his brother Michael Caruso; his brother Vincent Caruso; his brothers-in-law Paul Romano and Michael DeBerry.
A visitation will be held for Dr. Caruso on March 6, 2022 from 5-7pm at The Island Funeral Home and Crematory. A funeral Mass will take place on March 7, 2022 at 10am at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church followed by burial at Six Oaks Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dr. Caruso’s life.
