Obituary of Nancy H. Nettleton

Nancy Nettleton, beloved wife, sister, and mother, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2022.  She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 70 years, David. She is survived by five children: Michael (Terry) of Allen, TX; Robert (Jane) of Denver, CO; Sarah (Ron) Mosso of Fremont, CA; Amy (Steven Youra) Nettleton of S Pasadena, CA; and Thomas (Kaye) of Chesterfield, VA. Nancy is also survived by her sister Susan Bair of Lake Havasu, AZ. Nancy leaves 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Nancy was born in Canton, Ohio daughter of Oscar and Alice Horger. She met the love of her life, David, while both were students at Carnegie Tech, now Carnegie Mellon University. After graduation, Dave and Nancy married and moved to southern New Jersey where they raised their family. Moving from Moorestown, New Jersey to Hilton Head in 1991, Nancy and Dave enjoyed many years in Hilton Head and were long time members of Dolphin Head Country Club. They enjoyed their marsh-side residence on Skull Creek before moving to the Cypress in Hilton Head Plantation.

An active volunteer, Nancy served many years for Contact of Burlington County and was a long-time volunteer at The Bargain Box. Together with Dave, Nancy supported and appreciated many philanthropic activities and arts organizations in Hilton Head, and they were regular attendees at the Spoleto Festival. They enjoyed time with numerous friends in both New Jersey and South Carolina. They also savored travel, making several cross-country trips and journeying to destinations around the world, her favorites being Italy and an African safari.

During her last few months, all of Nancy’s children were able to come and spend time with her. These were cherished moments, and all five children agree that Nancy was the best Mom ever. We will sorely miss her.

A celebration of life will be held in June. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Bargain Box (https://www.thebargainboxofhiltonhead.org/).
