Obituary of Jinny Haight

Jinny passed away peacefully at her home at the Seabrook in Hilton Head, SC on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at the age of 99.

 

Virginia Ella Harbrecht was born on June 16, 1923, to Louis Harbrecht and Edna Begbie Harbrecht.  She was the second of three children and their only daughter.  The family lived in St. Albans, Queens, NY. 

 

In 1941 she married Douglas Howell Haight, Jr.  In 1950, the couple moved to Seaford, Long Island, NY with their two children and continued to reside there for 32 years.  They were members of Indian Hills Golf Club.

 

Jinny and Doug moved to Sea Pines in Hilton Head in 1982.  Jinny spent time playing golf and bridge.  She loved an assortment of needlecraft hobbies and liked to knit, crochet, hook rugs, and embroider.  She created many beautiful pieces for her family and friends.  They enjoyed many activities at Sea Pines Country Club.  In 2005 they moved to the Seabrook where they met many new friends.

 

She is predeceased by Doug, her husband of 74 years, and her brothers Louis and William.  She is survived by her children Virginia “Ginger” Hall (Lance) and Douglas T. Haight; two granddaughters Britt Hall Kuehn (Adam) and Maura Hall Pongracz (Greg); and two great-grandchildren Sydney and Quentin Kuehn.

 

 A memorial service will be held in January.
