Gary Crow

Obituary of Gary L. Crow

Gary L. Crow of Hilton Head Island, SC, formerly of Weirton, WV, died peacefully at Savannah Memorial Hospital on December 10, 2022.  Gary was born on June 9, 1947 to Floyd and Hazel Crow, and was raised from a young age by Mike Lucas, Hazel's second husband, following Floyd's death.

Gary and his wife Denise retired to Hilton Head Island in 2013 with their dog Katie.  After a 41 year career at Weirton Steel, Gary quickly settled into retirement by going back to work part-time at what would become his home away from home, the Oyster Reef Golf Club.  When he wasn't working or enjoying a long walk, Gary could usually be found tinkering on a project, or planning his next.  Second only to his family, Gary was especially proud of the things he built.

Denise will remember their nights out around the island and the laughs they shared.  His kids will remember the quiet moments together where lessons were taught without saying a word.  His family, friends, and coworkers will all remember his kindness, his work ethic, and his happiness which only seemed to increase year after year.  The many stories about Gary, unique to those who tell them yet common in their themes, encapsulate a life lived to its fullest, and a character like no other.

Gary is survived by his wife Denise, children Lori, David, and Harrison, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.  Gary is also survived by his sisters Tawney Keller and Tyra Clark.

A celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  The family would like to thank the friends old and new for their kindness and stories during this time of loss.
