Obituary of Brian David DeSalve
Brian David DeSalve went home to his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 12th, 2023, age 58, surrounded by friends and his daughter, Hannah by his side. Brian was born to Willian and Janice DeSalve April 29, 1964, in Dubois, Pennsylvania. He spent his childhood years in Dubois playing football, baseball, and riding dirt bikes through the Pennsylvania mountains. He graduated from Dubois high school, and after found himself in Fairfax, Virginia where he spent a few years honing his skill and becoming, what he called, “Wood Butcher Extraordinaire”. In the mid 1990s he found himself visiting Hilton Head and decided it would be a wonderful place to start a new life. Along the years, he worked with a handful of skilled contractors, and was known for his masterful manipulation of wood – custom cabinetry, doors, fireplaces, gazebos – anything that made sawdust he would say. He eventually opened his own contracting company and spent many years making friends out of clients. Brian also worked at Indigo Run golf clubs for many years – enjoying what he called his second family – his workmates and members.
He served on the Grace Community Church worship team running the soundboard and sharing his love of music. He also had the honor of going on several mission trips through Grace from Africa to Alaska using his building skills for erecting schools and homes for children in need. In his spare time, he loved anything Nascar. He spent many a mile on the road traveling the road traveling to races, collecting memorabilia, and enjoying the sights and sounds he loved of racing. His other great passion was his love of the open water. Not much made him happier than taking out his boat with his first mate, black lab “Sadie” and as many friends/family as he could hold with the life jackets he had on board. He taught Hannah and many others how to fish and was always appreciative of the time he had in the river, enjoying the sunsets at the end of a good boat day.
Brian never met a stranger. His bright smile, his positive outlook on life, and generous spirit left an impression wherever he went. Brian was loved by many. He was always there to share a story of his walk with the Lord and how grateful he was for Him and all he had – friends and family.
Brian will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Hannah DeSalve, Mother Janice DeSalve, brother Dean DeSalve, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 18th, 2023, at 11:30am at Grace Community Church, 450 Spanish Wells Road, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926. A gathering will be held immediately following with light refreshments and a time to reflect on memories of Brian.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Brian to Grace Community Church for future mission trips.
