Marion J. Moore died at Hilton Head Hospital on February 22nd, 2023. She was 76.
Marion was born on May 19th, 1946 in Dunstable, UK as a post war surprise to Edward Joseph Moore and Enid (Stonebridge) Moore. She graduated from the Lycée Français de Londres and enjoyed a long career with the International Monetary Fund. She married Hugh Dowsett in the summer of 1967, and two sons were born to this 12 year union. She loved to travel for work and pleasure. She took her two sons to Kenya, and on a camping trip across the United States, just to name a couple.
She took an early retirement and moved to Hilton Head, SC in 2002 where she enjoyed gardening, bird watching and walks on the beach. Marion was a devoted member of St. Luke’s Church. After the death of her son Mark, it inspired her to help others through the Stephens Ministry.
Marion is survived by her son, Peter, and daughter-in-law, Trena, who reside in Mitchell, SD. She has numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by many wonderful friends.
A celebration of her life will take place Monday, February 27 at 11am at The Island Funeral Home in Hilton Head. Marion’s ashes will later be scattered by her son and daughter-in-law along the Cornish seaside in Sennen Cove, UK, which has long been one of her favorite places to visit.
