Obituary of Margaret P. Ferguson

Margaret P. Ferguson, widow of the late Donald R. Ferguson, passed away on March 23, 2023, at The Preston Health Center. Daughter of the late Edward Northcote Pearce and Margaret Dorothy Sharp Pearce, she is survived by son Scott (Meg) and daughter Leslie.

 

She graduated from Penn State with a degree in journalism, a member of Theta Sigma Phi and the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Married for 61 years, “Margie” and Don lived in Newport, RI, Coronado, CA, and Iwakuni, Japan, during his Navy years. They were at home in Willistown Township, Chester County, Pa., during his career with Bell of Pennsylvania. She reported for a weekly newspaper for 12 years, after their children reached high school in the Great Valley school district. In 1996 they migrated south to Moss Creek and lived there 18 years before moving to the Cypress.

 

She was a lifelong piano player, enjoyed crossword puzzles and her ferns, loved German shepherds, and later in life, other people’s dogs.  She was active in the Low-Key Piano club on Hilton Head and in many groups at the Cypress. She will be dearly missed by her children and her many friends.
