Obituary of Ellen Goldstein-Lash

Ellen Goldstein-Lash, of Hilton Head Island was born on March 26, 1930 and died peacefully on April 2, 2023.  Ellen lived a long and happy life and touched many hearts as a kind, caring and giving person.

Ellen grew up in New York, to her parents Samuel and Paula Kaufman.  Ellen attended business school and met her first husband Gerard (Jerry) and were married in 1950, they eventually moved to North Carolina in 1957 where they lived for over 30 years prior to moving to Hilton Head in 1987.  Ellen lost Jerry in 1991 after 41 years of marriage.  Several years later, love found Ellen again when Seymour Lash entered her life and they were married in 2004.  Seymour passed away in 2011.  Ellen was known for being a cornerstone member of Congregation Beth Yam, and served as the sisterhood president.  She was known as an avid reader and was seldom found without a book.  Ellen’s passion was travel, as she had traveled Europe, South America, Japan, China and Israel.  Ellen is survived by her son Ross Goldstein and his wife Kim and Ellen’s grandchildren Robert, Joshua, Aaron, Michael, Samuel, Elizabeth, and great grandchildren Chloe, Cameron, and Lincoln. 

Ellen will be buried in a private ceremony in New York.  A memorial service will take place on Sunday, April 9 at 1:30PM at The Island Funeral Home and Crematory.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ellen’s life.
