Obituary of William Charles Kinsey

William Charles Kinsey, (Bill) passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, May 13th while at Hilton Head Hospital, after a 4-month illness. He was 88 years old.

Bill was born in Richmond Indiana, the son of Philip Thomas Kinsey and Leona Ruth Haler Kinsey. He grew up in Waco Texas where he worked as a wrangler, taught horseback riding and broke horses while attending Waco Technical High School. He received his BBA, degree from Baylor University and began his 26-year career with CertainTeed Corporation in the general offices of Cameron & Co and completed it in their Valley Forge headquarters as Senior Vice President of the Shelter Materials Group. The final 16 years of his working career were with Bird Corporation where he held several positions including Senior VP of Operations, President of the Roofing Group and President of Bird Vinyl Products.

Bill served as a director on several industry related boards including Asphalt Roofing Manufacturing Association, The Society of the Plastics industry, and the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. He was also active in the National Home Builders Association.

Bill and Marianne retired to Hilton Head Island, SC in 1998 and enjoyed all the island amenities. He was active in The Golf Club at Indigo Run and served on many committees and as Chairman of the Board of Governors. Bill also served on the Golf Club Community Association Board

Bill is survived by his wife, Marianne (Lorine) Kinsey, His sister, Patricia LaCroix and her husband (as Bill always called him “his brother by another mother”), Joseph LaCroix, his sister-in-law, Valerie Kinsey, as well as his brothers-in-law Francis J. Lorine (Frank), Anthony C. Lorine (Tony), Christopher Lorine (Chris) and his wife Laurie, Michael J. Lorine and his 4 nieces and 3 nephews and 2 great nieces and 1 great nephews and many close friends, who he considered his extended family.
