Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Sebastian

Mary Elizabeth “Betty” (Bliskey) Sebastian, 96, passed away on October 13, 2017 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital after an extended stay. She was born January 31, 1921 in Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Anna Bliskey. After growing up and attending high school there, she relocated to Middletown, Ohio, where she attended Middletown Business College, after which she worked many jobs in the area. While living there, she met and married James Herbert (Herb) Sebastian. Together they had three daughters. After retirement at age 71, she relocated to Hilton Head Island, SC, where she worked for another 12 years and then lived many more years until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Anna (Mosebarger) Bliskey; brothers Joseph Jr. (Blink) Bliskey and Eugene F. Bliskey; sisters Regina Long and Agnes Quigley; daughter Michelle Marie Sebastian; granddaughter LuAnne Barone; and sons-in-law Donald Caudill and Dr. George Barone. She is survived by daughters Mary Lou Barone and Bonnie Gem Caudill; grandchildren Jill Barone (Chad Eidschun) and Jason Barone; God-daughter Deja Gamig, and many nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church on Hilton Head Island. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, baking, board games, and “Dancing With the Stars”. We will all miss her home-baked goodies and the hand-made items she was constantly gifting, but most of all, we will miss her smile, her kind heart, and her frequent reminders that her three girls were “the light of her life” A Celebration of Life will be held at the Palmetto Dunes Club, One Carnoustie, Hilton Head, SC 29928 on Saturday, October 28 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty’s memory to the charity of your choice. To send flowers or a remembrance gift to the family of Mary Sebastian, please visit our Flower & Gift Shop.
