Obituary of Blair Bucknell Gregory

Blair Bucknell Gregory Blair Gregory, 62, of Hilton Head Island, passed away September 22, 2017 peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 23, 1954 in Washington, DC and was the daughter of the late Robert H. Bucknell and Martha Bailes Bucknell. Blair is survived by her loving husband, David J. Gregory and their son Brooks David Gregory, fiancée Amie Smith and grandson Fisher Brooks Gregory, all of Islamorada, Florida. A lifer of Sidwell Friends School, Blair went on to attend Ohio Wesleyan and received a BA in Elementary Education and Spanish. She moved to Charleston, SC and taught school for five years. Blair had the opportunity to work with Kiawah Island Resort as tours and transportation convention coordinator. There she met the love of her life, Dave. They married and moved to Hilton Head Island in 1985 where she began her career in marketing with Sea Pines Resort which included the marketing efforts in launching the TidePointe Community. The pride and joy of her life was her awesome son Brooks, who with Amie, also gave Blair her grandson Fisher seven weeks ago. Blair was lovingly regarded as a second mom and tutor to many of Brooks’ friends. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends especially to the Keys to take part in her son’s sport fishing career, playing Mahjong with her girlfriends, cooking “memorable meals” with Dave and lighting up the room with her laughter and quick wit. Married for 33 years, the rock of her life was Dave. Visitation will be Thursday, September 28 at The Island Funeral Home from 3:00pm-5:00pm.
