Paul Jacobson

Obituary of Paul S. Jacobson

Died on April 13, 2018 at the age of 67. The cancer finally killed me, but it didn’t stop me from living. Lots of labels that I proudly wore: Life partner of the Lovely Lady Lois. Dad of Jeremy and Heather. Papa of Kean and Rory. Brother of Larry. Friend of many, particularly Lois’ wonderful family. Thank you all for your love and caring and support. Service junkie, good guy and frequent PITA. Lover of Hilton Head Island. I came to play golf and avoid winter in Ohio and stayed to fulfill my life in a community of truly wonderful people. Educator and consultant focusing on emerging IT technologies and methodologies, with a passion for helping local small businesses and non-profits and a flair for developing and conducting seminars. Thanks to Chuck, who got me started and made so much of it happen, and to Paul and my Mission Resources Group partners who made it happen here. Choral singer who found tremendous pleasure and fulfilment singing with the Hilton Head Choral Society, the Mary Green Chorale, the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra Chorus, special spring services at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, High Holidays at Congregation Beth Yam and many superior experiences at 1st Presbyterian Church, culminating in the 2017 NYC Carnegie Hall trip. Huge thanks to Tim, both Mary’s, Gayle, Michael, David, Nina, Robin, Rusty and Laura, and to everyone I had the honor of singing with, especially my Port Royal Sound Vocals group mates. Poor golfer and intrepid traveler who took his clubs around the world twice and played at least 18 holes, broke 100 and lost at least 1 golf ball in all 50 states. Thanks particularly to Bruce and Wes and John for their excellent links fellowship and friendship off the course, and to my biking buddy Chris. Cancer and heart patient, offering profound thanks and admiration for the local docs, nurses and staff members who provided a challenging and demanding patient with excellent care and even more excellent caring. Several requests… Carpe the damned diem. Please support and enjoy the local arts scene- our greatest hidden treasure. Finally, I still find it hard to believe how kind everyone has been. You’ve certainly taught and demonstrated grace to someone that certainly didn’t deserve it… which is the whole point of grace. So, please, please keep taking care of each other, as you’ve cared so well for me. Thank you.
