Judy Blake

Obituary of Judy Blake

Judy Blake passed away on April 2, 2023 in Hilton Head Hospital after several months of declining health. She was born in Boston to Raymond and Pearl Ford on Nov.12, 1939, grew up on Long Island and attended the Katharine Gibbs School in NY. She and her husband, Bob, worked for Exxon Mobil and lived in a variety of places before retiring to Hilton Head over 25 years ago. Bob predeceased her in 2014.

They both enjoyed golfing and cruising but, for Judy, golf was by far her favorite activity. She often reminisced about the times her father took her to play the game in her younger years. Upon retiring Judy and Bob built a home in Port Royal Plantation and joined the golf club there. Judy devoted much of her time to the 9-Hole Ladies Group where she served as president and then for many years as communications director. She took pride in designing a “9-Hole Program Booklet” for the players which included rosters and activities. Most of all, she treasured the camaraderie she experienced with her fellow golfers. Playing bridge in various Port Royal groups and connecting with others to play on the cruises was another pastime she enjoyed, not to forget a frequent “lunch out” and shopping.

Judy lived at the Cypress and words of gratitude are extended to all the home aids and others who were there for her in times of need. Although she didn’t have a pet in recent years, she loved dogs, and she can be remembered with a donation to the Hilton Head Humane Association.

A private inurnment will be held at Six Oaks Cemetery. Please join in a memorial celebration for Judy that will take place at the Port Royal Golf Club on Sunday, April 30 from 12-2 PM.
