Obituary of William L. Green

 

William Lynn Green left us peacefully and unexpectedly at age 94 on May 16, 2023, in Hilton Head SC.  Bill was blessed with a full and active life with his wife Betty of 72 years, two children, 6 grandchildren, one great grandchild and another on the way.   

Bill was born March 12, 1929, in Sandoval, Illinois to parents Lloyd (1899-1963) and Bronta (1899-1999), and had one brother (Lloyd) who predeceased him.

 Bill made friends with ease and loved to reflect upon his life experiences, including his varied career and extensive travels. Among many other pursuits, he was a band director; a USAF instructor pilot serving 25 years and reaching the rank of Lt Col; he managed a multi-state real estate company for decades; then became certified  as a large church business administrator and enjoyed traveling and working with several churches before retiring at age 79. 

 As Bill wrote recently, “examining the events in my more than 90 years (and 33,000+ sunsets) there are three things I know for sure:  1) there are a lot of beautiful things and mighty fine people in this world; 2) I will not get to see nor experience them all; and 3) life passes quickly.”  Bill will be interred with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia at a later date.
