Obituary of Dr. John Richard Hall

Dr. John Richard Hall, a distinguished trauma surgeon and academic, passed away December 27, 2023, at his home in Hilton Head, SC. Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, Dr. Hall graduated from Stanford University in 1974 and the University of Arizona College of Medicine in 1977. His pioneering work in pediatric trauma care earned national recognition, including an invitation to the White House to brief then-President George H. W. Bush. In 2006, then-Governor Bredesen (TN) made him an honorary Colonel in the Tennessee State Guard to honor the countless lives he saved as a trauma surgeon in East Tennessee.

Above all, Dr. Hall cherished his role as a father.  He is survived by his beloved daughters, Corey Evelyn Hall, Mary Elizabeth Hall, and Katherine Irene Hall, and their mother Mary Hall and his sister Dr. Beverly Lorell. His faithful dog, Dixie, has a new home with Corey.
