Obituary of Jane Giddings

Rebecca Jane Giddings,” Jane”, passed away on January 27, 2024, in her home after a long illness.

Jane was born on January 7, 1935, in Greenville, GA to Bryan and Louise Hatchett. They moved to College Park, GA where she graduated from College Park High School. She received her two-year degree from Georgia State College in Atlanta. Attending an Emory University “frat” party she met Marvin Giddings and married September 17, 1954. After Marvin’s residency and military service in Del Rio, TX they moved to Lighthouse Point, FL to begin Marvin’s practice and life in Florida. She was a homemaker and DW raising three children in their loving home. She was a lifelong member of Lighthouse Point Trinity United Methodist Church helping start a preschool and food distribution kitchen. The family spent many summers and weekends in the Bahamas and Florida Keys aboard the beloved ChristiJane. Jane moved permanently to Hilton Head Island in 2011 living in North Forest Beach and Tidepointe. She became of member of St Andrew by the Sea United Methodist Church.

Jane is survived by her husband of 69 years, Marvin Alvin Giddings; her son Marvin (Buddy) and daughter-n-law Linda Giddings; daughter Christiana and son-n-law David Martin; daughter-n-law Tammy Giddings; five grandchildren – Kayla, Austin, Violet, Tristan, Sebastian and one great grandson Hayes. She is proceeded in death by her son Jefferson, her parents, and two brothers.

Jane Giddings will be buried in a private ceremony in Six Oaks Cemetery.

Her family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to her caregivers and Hospice Care of the LowCountry.
