Obituary of Karen Barron

Karen Barron died in her home on January 26, 2024 on Hilton Head Island, SC.  She was 69.

Mrs. Barron was born on August 31, 1954 in Orangeburg, SC to her parents Lewis and Barbara Trowell.  Karen graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1978 and secured her Master's in Education in 1984 from USC. In 1984 she married Robert Barron, who was the principal at Jasper Middle School while she taught Jasper Primary School.

She enjoyed teaching until the early ‘90s until her Multiple Sclerosis reactivated and she was forced to retire to part time teaching and other work on the Island.

She is survived by her husband Robert and her niece Zoe McClary and her husband Charles (Mac) McClary. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Edi and Elli. Mrs. Barron will be buried at her ancestral burial cemetery in Brunson, SC on February 16, 2024 at noon. A brief reception will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 at the parish hall prior to the final service at the cemetery.
