Obituary of Richard Keith Goodrich

 Richard Keith Goodrich, affectionately called Dick by family and friends, passed away quietly at home on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina on March 3, 2024. Dick was born on August 19, 1933 in Zanesville, Ohio, where he spent his childhood and eventually raised his own family. Dick received his undergraduate degree from Ohio University and his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

 While in Cincinnati, Dick met Mary, his loving wife of 59 years. They moved back to Zanesville together, where Dick practiced medicine for 21-years and brought nearly 9,000 lives into this world. After receiving a master’s degree in public health from the University of North Carolina in 1988, Dick left private practice and worked with the Departments of Health in both Ohio and South Carolina.

 In 1993, Dick and Mary moved from Ohio to Hilton Head Island. Dick soon settled into full-time retirement, captaining a trawler on the Intercoastal Waterway, skiing with the Hilton Head Island Ski Club, and touring the East Coast on his Harley Davidson. Dick was also a proud veteran, having served in the Coast Guard as a Lieutenant and medical officer.

  A beloved husband, father, and friend, Dick is survived by wife Mary, son Steven and daughter-in-law Ashley Goodrich of Atlanta, GA, daughter Elizabeth Goodrich Cobb of Charlotte, NC, and his four grandchildren, Lauren, Will, Allie, and Maddie. He was preceded in death by his father Russell Goodrich, mother Emma Jean, and brother Robert.

Dick will be buried in Zanesville and remembered there with a celebration of life event at a to-be-determined date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "Hospice" through the Genesis HealthCare Foundation at Donate to Genesis HealthCare Foundation (bloomerang.co).
